A wine whose freshness and energy are like a mirage
After the frost, hail, and humidity of 2021, the conditions of the 2022 vintage are just as extreme, but on the other side of the spectrum. Heatwaves and a total lack of rain for weeks put the vines to the test, with temperature and ripeness levels that sent everyone off the charts. And yet, the arrival of life-saving rainfall, the work in the vineyard, and the harvest date have allowed for a wine that is as intense and concentrated as it is incredibly fresh and balanced, for a prodigious result.

The vintage
2022

2022 bears the scars of the extreme temperatures and persistent drought that this exceptional vintage experienced. While the vines budded, as is often the case, in mid-April, they experienced an early flowering in late May due to the unseasonably intense heat. The prolonged summer drought then put the vines under intense water stress, which should raise questions about the need to adapt viticultural practices in this context of climate change.
Despite these extreme conditions, the vines showed surprising resilience, which, combined with the arrival of beneficial rains at the end of summer, allowed the grapes to ripen properly. The harvest, which took place on September 19, took place—unusually—during the last days of summer in excellent conditions and with grapes in perfect health.

The vibrant artistic expression of a scorching vintage
The exceptional temperatures and drought of the 2022 vintage have prompted us to seek new ways to express the characteristics of this heatwave-affected vintage.
Between undulations and electric colors, warm sounds with gently exotic accents and a colorful tempo, we wanted to express in our own way the torrid imprint of the vintage while integrating this hint of candor and brilliance in the image of this paradoxical wine; at once exotic and mineral, concentrated and pure, rich and elegant.

From the work
to the label
The artist from the Christian Pauchon collective worked on the concept in pencil and felt-tip pen on several boards, finally isolating a variant with swirling curves and electric hues. From this original drawing, we created a label that, through its both sober and polychrome character, underlines the duality of this wine worthy of a mirage.

The music
To best express this sunny vintage, musician Matt Moré has composed an original piece of music with a hint of the exotic, with warm tones, both joyful and melancholic, swirling and haunting, with a tribal rhythm as mischievous as it is heady. The music was performed and recorded by Matt Moré, then co-arranged, mixed, and enhanced by Vladimir Cochet of Conatus Studio.
